Walking Bus

The walking bus team

We recognise the challenges that some of our families face in the morning with getting children to school. This can be for a variety of reasons including mental health, routines and work commitments. As part of our commitment to supporting you, we are pleased to announce our new Walking Bus initiative. This initiative also helps to support the local environment as well as assist the local community.

How does it work?

  • Staff from the school walk a designated route each day in the morning, collecting children from pre-selected families and stops, to ensure that the children arrive to school on time

  • We have a team of 5 Roman Hill Staff who will be working on the bus - typically 4 adults a day.

  • Our staff are all trained, DBS checked as standard and know our community well as well as your child.

  • All children will be provided with high visibility vests.

  • We have a risk assessed route which goes past designated stops and staff will collect your child and bring them to school as part of the walking bus convoy.

  • The bus convoys leaves RHPS at 8am and will arrive back at the school before 8.40am therefore children will need to be ready at their stops for the allocated collection times specified.

  • We have designated stops - Times are approximate and dependant of weather conditions and speed of children!

Currently, this is morning collection only.

We have had positive feedback from our test group regarding our walking bus and how it has helped build confidence for our children in coming to school. We hope that it will benefit the children who join in the future too.

Our walking bus is on a first come, first served basis.
